All quizzes are computer based and are open for a minimum of one week in which students may take the quiz at any point they feel ready. Students are permitted to use their notes on all quizzes. Quizzes consist of ten randomly chosen questions from a question bank and must be answered sequentially (i.e. question 1 must be answered in order to move onto question 2). Students are given up to three attempts on quizzes with the highest grade of the three attempts entered into the gradebook. Students who fail to take the quiz during the allotted time will receive a "0".
Quizzes, like all assignments, are on Polk County School’s Moodle site at http://moodle.polk-fl.net; (this is the same site that is used in class for distributing and collecting class related documents). Students can access the site using their assigned user name and password (the same username and password that is used to access student portal). This means that the quiz is available 24/7 and may be accessed on any internet connected device to include students' cell phones.
Quarterly Exam Grading (15% of the Quarterly Grade)
An exam will be given at the end of each quarter. All exams are computer based and open notes. Exams will consist of 75 randomly selected questions from a bank of questions. The same bank of questions used to generate quizzes is used to generate quarterly exam. Exams are also sequential, meaning that each question must be answered before being allowed to proceed to the next question.
Since the same bank of questions is used for both quizzes and quarterly exams, students will be exposed to all the questions that might appear on the exam, provided they have taken the quizzes three times as allotted (see quizzes above).
Quarterly exams are controlled. Students will receive a password to take the exam on the day the exam is given. Students needing additional time will be granted the additional time and may continue to take the exam at home.
***State and district mandated tests for this course will be used in place of any quarterly exam for the quarter in which the test is administered. State and district testing regulations will apply during the administration of these tests, not the testing procedures outlined in the preceding paragraph.
